Be Our Guest at Walt Disney World

We had the pleasure of enjoying our first dinner at Be Our Guest during the first few days after the New Fantasyland grand opening in December 2012 thanks to my lightning fast dialing finger. 😂 Years later, reservations had still been pretty tough to secure even with the addition of a quick service breakfast option to the already existing quick service lunch and table service dinner offerings. However, with the dissolution of breakfast and the conversion of lunch and dinner to a prix fixe menu (that now requires two table service credits on the Disney Dining Plan), reservations are a bit easier to come by. We recently booked a lunch about 15 minutes prior and the dining room was not full.

The Approach

A bridge, over a clear creek, flanked with gargoyles leads to stone statues and mosaics that welcome (or maybe are meant to deter) you into the Beast’s castle. If you can make it past the doors, you’re face to face with the breathtaking interior of the ballroom just past another set of stone guardians.

The Atmosphere

Be Our Guest has three different and distinct dining rooms: the mysterious West wing, the grand and gorgeous ballroom and the warm and welcoming Rose Gallery. We’ve had the joy of dining in all three dining rooms but have a slight preference for the West wing. Seating is open during quick service breakfast and lunch, so you may choose any open tables. During dinner, you’ll be seated by a cast member. Requests are not guaranteed.

The West Wing is quite a bit more intimate than the ballroom and, in true storytelling accuracy, is home to the enchanted rose that harbors the Beast’s curse. Every twenty minutes, not so much like the story, the last petal falls and a storm begins brewing. Glance towards Prince Adam’s portrait when this happens.

The airy and opulent ballroom is the largest of the dining rooms and features painted ceilings, chandeliers dripping with sparkle and giant picture windows allowing guests to marvel at the gently falling snow.

The last of the dining rooms we’ll explore is the Rose Gallery filled with tapestries and comfy bench seating all surrounding a stunning life size music box featuring Belle and her Beast. We almost always find ample seating in the gallery during quick service hours.

The Fare

Lunch and dinner are prix fixe featuring three courses. Appetizers include some guest favorites in addition to new offerings. Entrees are an entirely new menu with a French flair. After all, miss, this is France! The dessert trio feature, of course, the grey stuff. It’s delicious!

The Host

While Be Our Guest doesn’t technically qualify as character dining, the Beast has come away from his reclusive ways and promenades through the dining rooms but doesn’t expressly stop to greet. He did previously meet after dinners, as pictured.

I always have to laugh at the picture with the sparkling border. This was our first dining experience at Be Our Guest, as it had just opened. It was a long, chilly day and Stitchy ended up falling asleep before his dinner arrived. As we were gathering to leave, we decided to go ahead and stop for a picture with the Beast. In his post-nap haze, Stitchy ended up hugging the PhotoPass photographer instead of the Beast much to the chagrin of the character handler who playfully quipped “Why didn’t I get a hug?” Teenager Stitchy just loves when we tell that story. 😉
