Disney's Art of Animation Resort

Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Magic, Memories, Mayhem Art of Animation Resort

Back in October 2012, Stitchy and I embarked on a mini “Just Us” trip to the World.  It was fall break, and we had friends who were headed to central Florida, so we figured we may as well tag along.  While I love a surprise, he knew about this trip in advance.  I did, however, manage to keep the hotel a secret until our Magical Express pulled under the porte-cochère.

We had a fantastic time at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and he really, really LOVED the Cars area!!  So, without further ado, Disney’s newest value resort, the Art of Animation…

Guest Rooms

Of course, all of the rooms boast their own theme from Cars, Finding Nemo, Lion King and Little Mermaid.  Cars, Finding Nemo and Lion King Family Suites all share the same layout, while the Little Mermaid rooms are standard rooms (with outside corridor).

Standard Room

Only available in the Little Mermaid area, standards include two double beds (or one king), in-room wall safe; complimentary WiFi; hairdryer; iron and ironing board; crib or Pack ‘n Play is available upon request.

Family Suites

Only available in the Nemo, Cars and Lion King areas, suites include two separate bathrooms; master bedroom (queen bed); pull-out couch (converts to a double bed); dining table (pulls down into a double bed); kitchenette with microwave, coffee maker, sink and mini fridge; flat-panel TV in living room and bedroom; in-room wall safe; complimentary WiFi; two hairdryers; iron and ironing board; crib or Pack ‘n Play is available upon request

Finding Nemo Family Suite

These are considered the preferred rooms (and the price will reflect this) and will be, in general, closer to the main lobby and surround the Big Blue Pool area.

Cars Family Suite

I will add that while staying in the Cars area, our cell service was awful!!  I couldn’t hold more than a minute conversation, and texts took hours to go through if they did at all.  I had to find a web site that would send texts, otherwise we relied on Facebook messages to communicate from the room, as the Wi-Fi was halfway decent on my laptop.  In the main areas of the resort, the reception was better, and I was told that if I wanted to use my phone, that was my best bet.  Hopefully this will improve as they build up the area.

Dining

Disney’s Art of Animation features an expansive food court, Landscape of Flavors, similar to the other value resorts.  It is located in Animation Hall and has options for almost every taste, as well as plenty of seating and beverage/condiment/etc. stations situated throughout the dining areas.

Pizza Delivery is also available 4:00 P.M. to midnight.

Recreation

Art of Animation offers three pool areas, the largest being the Big Blue Pool in the Finding Nemo area.  The Cars and Little Mermaid areas feature a pool, as well.  The Finding Nemo and Lion King areas also offer play structures, although I wouldn’t exactly classify them as playgrounds.

For joggers, there is also a 1.4 mile trail.

The Pixel Play Arcade is located in Animation Hall.
