Via Napoli at Walt Disney World

On an unplanned, relaxing stroll through the World Showcase on our December 2012 trip, we decided to wander around Italy after watching one of the pop-up performances. Despite snacking from Mexico to China, we were ready for something substantial and happened upon Italy’s newest restaurant, Via Napoli.

The staff wasn’t overly friendly, but they weren’t unfriendly, either.  They did their jobs.  Much like the staff I’d experienced at a similar sidewalk cafe in Rome, but I guess that makes sense since Disney hires cast members from each pavilion’s respective country.

A full menu featuring traditional Italian American favorites is offered, but as I mentioned, we’d been snacking all day and decide to split a pizza, which was very good!  Always a family with leftovers, we cleared that pan, and Stitchy even had room for gelato! WIth the size of the pizzas, this is also easily one of the best values on property, as a family could realistically dine for about half the price as other table service restaurants.

The atmosphere was wonderful on this December almost-evening.  We enjoyed the outdoor seating and mild weather.  I can see how this might not be such a perfect spot in, say August with the daily showers and sweltering heat.  For us, though, this was a great experience and one we hope to replicate.

Update: We have! Several times!! Via Napoli has become one of our favorite dining spots in the World. Keep reading for more drool-worthy visuals!

Magic, Memories, Mayhem Via Napoli

While we haven’t dined al fresco again, the feel inside is just as lovely. A light, airy atmosphere paired with a celebratory aura (that mile-long table in the middle is just begging for a song and a bottle of wine!) make dining indoors quite preferable on those sultry days of summer.

Who wouldn’t want a piping hot pie out of those perfectly themed ovens? And speaking of pizza…

I’d also like to note the wait staff is still a little stiff at times, but we have had a few Disneyfied servers. These guys, who also happened to serve friends of ours about a week prior to us, were happy, fun and lots of laughs. While a great server can make an experience, we’ve decided it’s worth the chance we may get a dud to enjoy Via Napoli.

But here’s the cherry on top. Not only do you get this beautiful atmosphere, crazy good pizza and decadent desserts, but it’s one of the best deals on property! That massive pie for my birthday? A Mezzo Metro that set us back about $40. While that may seem steep for a pizza, bear in mind that five of us ate that (with leftovers!) for $40. If you can find another table service for $8 a pop, let me know! Even when adding in drinks and desserts, we still come out well under the triple digit mark our clan is used to ponying up when we sit down to a table service meal at the mouse’s house.

Have you dined at Via Napoli? What did you think? Or have we talked you into trying it for the first time? If you do and you see our boys, tell them buongiorno from me. 😉
