A Day in Destin

Although we find ourselves in Florida quite a bit, it’s not often that we end up road tripping through the Sunshine State. Our first big trip post-2020 took us to Walt Disney World, of course. However, being that it had been more than a year since our last vacation we decided to road trip it and stretch it out as long as possible. On our way to the mouse house, we stayed two nights on the road, one in New Orleans and one in Destin. Being that we arrived pretty late to the home of emerald waters, here’s what we did with a day in Destin.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Destin Miramar Beach

Being that we travel with a large party  (usually 6 or more), we often decide to utilize chain hotels for the abundance of suites available for families at decent rates. The Embassy Suites Miramar Beach is located across the street from the beach and provides an outdoor pool and a complimentary made-to-order breakfast daily. Silver Sands Premium Outlets is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. A fitness center, business center, and meeting facilities are on site. Free parking is provided on site, as well.  Complimentary light snacks, beer, and wine are served at the nightly evening reception.

Miramar Beach

The waters truly live up to their descriptions! The beach here is absolutely beautiful! Although weather was a little prohibitive, Tropical Storm Claudette was making her way into the area, the time we had a the beach was picture perfect!

Fudpucker’s Beachside Bar & Grill

Good time and good food! Although the wait was a little long both to be seated and served, the atmosphere at Fudpucker’s was fun and entertaining. A variety of food pleased everyone in the crew, and everyone had a good time checking out the gators.

Next time we’ll schedule a little more time in Destin, as there is so much to explore!
