As a photgraphy geek, slight narcissist and lover of all things photo, the Capture Your Moment photo shoot has been on my to-do list for a bit. I fully intended to wait until we had a full group of eight, but I finally bit the bullet and decided that my 39th birthday in Walt Disney World was the occasion. Our trip happened to fall the week after December Dapper Day at the World, so FOMO got the best of me, and I set to work on a wardrobe perfect for Hollywood Studios!
What is Capture Your Moment?
We are big fans of PhotoPass and love that with the service, everyone, even shutterbug mom, gets in the photos. Capture Your Moment plusses that and gives you your own private PhotoPass photog and assistant (for crowd control and creative) for a 20 minute shoot in the park.
What do you need to know?
Here are the bullet points of Capture Your Moment:
- Reservations are highly recommended! Magic Kingdom sells out quickly, but I was able to secure Hollywood Studios about two weeks prior to our trip.
- You can inquire on the day of at the PhotoPass stop in each park for availability if you weren’t able to get a reservation.
- Currently, the cost is $99 and includes the shoot only. Photos are included in Memory Maker and/or can be purchased individually. This was a sore spot for me, as it was quite a bit lower at debut, but this was completely worth it for us.
- You will check check in at the PhotoPass shop, Sid Cahuenga’s for us, about 15 minutes prior to your appointment.
- You and the photog can discuss any ideas you have for locations, groupings, etc. S/he will also let you know of any areas off limits (Galaxy’s Edge, for example) in the park.
- Once you’re ready, the clock starts and you can strike a pose!
The Review
As I mentioned earlier, this was an unequivocal “worth it” for my crew!! Indulge me, and I’ll tell you why.
Ismael and Kate were our photog crew with Ismael taking lead and Kate assisting. We hit it off with both of them right away! Ismael met us at Sid’s and asked our (er…my) ideas for the shoot. I told him we basically wanted to hang on Sunset Boulevard and definitely grab some shots at Tower of Terror (my favorite!). I wanted small group shots, individuals and whole family poses. He called Kate to meet us on Sunset, and we were off!
Aside from Tower, I told him we were open to any location, so we stopped at the Sparkle on Sunset marquee (aka Dooneys and jewels…mama’s guilty pleasure), the bathroom (yes, the bathroom) in between the shops, in front of Tower and on the balcony of the ride.
I had mentioned to Ismael that this was a little birthday present to myself, so I got a little extra attention in the photo department, and I wasn’t mad about it. Kate, who was working crowd control and had tons of great ideas on how to pose a plus size subject. Most of my Disneying is “for the kids,” but it was so much fun being the center of attention for a little while.
Of course, me being me and working for YOU, I was snapping away behind the scenes so I could share the experience, but so was Ismael! There were several sweet candid moments he caught between poses, and it was a wonderful surprise to find them in the mix.
Kate and I immediately bonded over fashion, shoes and tattoos. She noticed my tiny Tower tat on my arm and disappeared backstage only to reappear with the keys to the Hollywood Tower Hotel for my photos on the balcony. Playing off of this, Kate and Ismael positioned poses showing off not only my look and the prop but also both of my Tower tattoos. Talk about personalized service!
Oh, and those group shots of our family, Ismael and Kate? Kate’s MOM took them! We literally met her mother at the park. Now, I know this is for sure a “your miles may vary” situation, but it was just the most perfect 20ish minutes I could’ve asked for on my birthday.

Capture Your Moment
After the Shoot
Being that we were already dressed and it was ya girl’s birthday, we had dinner at the Hollywood Brown Derby. It wasn’t a place I’d necessarily opt to bring kids, but the two littles had a blast and LOVED their meals.
I did bring clothes and shoes to change into, but being that we were kind of enjoying all of the attention, we wore our dapper duds the rest of the evening and goofed off with regular PhotoPass.
Availability
Capture Your Moment is currently being offered at all four Walt Disney World parks. We recently experienced an Epcot session! Check out our thoughts and photos here. Disneyland seems to be offering it intermittently, as well.
