Lightning Lane Multi Pass at Walt Disney World: Your Ultimate Glow-Up Guide
Talk about a game changer. Genie+ is out, Lightning Lane Multi Pass (LLM) is in, and planning your Disney days just got a little easier and a lot more strategic. If you’re used to FastPass+ or still traumatized by the 6:59 a.m. Genie+ scramble, you’re gonna wanna keep reading. This is your insider guide to mastering LLM, planning like a pro, and skipping lines without losing your mind (or your magic).
Again, if you’re familiar with FastPass or Genie+, the new system itself basically works the same way. It’s a way to call “saves” in line while you’re off doing something else. Here are the quick and dirty details…
What Is Lightning Lane Multi Pass?
It’s Walt Disney World’s paid line-skipping system. You’ll pay per person, per day (pricing varies by park), and in return you’ll get:
- Three advance Lightning Lane ride selections
- A tiered ride selection system
- The ability to make additional bookings one at a time after those three
Bonus: It plays nice with park hopping (after your first three are done) and you can still buy individual Lightning Lane Single Passes for those e-ticket rides like TRON and Rise of the Resistance.
How Does It Actually Work?
Here’s your play-by-play:
- Choose Your Park – You can only pre-book Lightning Lanes in ONE park per day. Resort guests can purchase and plan their LLM seven days out, while day guests can start at three days.
- Book Your 3 – One from Tier 1 (the big rides) and two from Tier 2
- Use ‘Em – Scan into those rides, then unlock the ability to book more—one at a time. If the next ride is more than two hours out, you’ll be able to book another at that two hour mark. The app will let you know exactly when.
- Hop and Keep Booking – After your first 3 are done, you can start booking in other parks too!
Magic Tip: Schedule your first single FastPass while in the queue for your third pass, as your window opens as soon as you scan through the FastPass entrance.
Stuck, app getting buggy or just need a little help? Guest Service spots are set up around the parks (you’ll identify them by the large blue umbrellas) to assist, or if you’re close, you can also hit guest services inside the park entrances.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
Want to splurge and really save time? Pair your LLM with a Lightning Lane Single Pass and ride those ultra-headliners with zero standby drama. Currently, LLSP is available for:
Real Talk: Is It Worth It?
If you want to avoid wasting hours in line, yes. Especially if you’re traveling with littles, limited time or just hate sweating in queues. You’re buying back chunks of your day and a bit of your sanity.
On the other hand, if you’re ok with a leisurely day and not in Dumbo or Die touring mode, you can definitely stick with standby. Chat with your planning biddy or travel agent (hi…should be me!) about the crowd patterns during your trip, and see if you can swing it without, or maybe just grab it for a couple of days.
