Welcome back to another Disney Tip Tuesday, our (kinda) weekly bite-sized blog post offering up a fun tip for visiting your favorite Disney destinations. This week we’re diving into a little Disney Cruise Line fun.

You know what’s wildly underrated? Passive socializing. While Disney cruise FB groups are notorious for meetups, sometimes just creating something fun and letting people enjoy it while you’re off doing literally anything else is the way to go. If you’ve been on a Disney cruise, you know door decorations are part of this magic. From magnets to lights to Fish Extenders to dry erase boards, you’ll see all kinds of ephemera courtesy of your fellow cruisers who are proudly proclaiming their hometown, cruise count, favorite characters and more, all without awkward chitchat.

We love all of these but wanted to invite more people to peruse our door and spread some awareness about Sparkle Strong. Enter: The Question of the Day! One of the easiest, cheapest and most delightfully nosey ways to interact with fellow guests on your Disney cruise. I put my teacher supplies to use and laminated questions of the day to place on our door each day of our sailing. The lamination allowed for dry erasing and reusability on future cruises. Clean and green, baby!

While I adore my personal laminator, all you really need is a dry-erase board, magnetic sheet or even just paper and a magnet (NO TAPE ALLOWED!!). Every night before bed, pop up a new question—Best Disney snack? Favorite port? Pool deck pizza: yes or yikes? Let the hallway weigh in. People vote, peruse your door, maybe judge someone’s answer in their head and keep it moving. You get to enjoy the responses each time you come back to the room, and it adds a little sparkle to the cruise routine. No chatting. No pressure. Just vibes.

The question, written in pink, reads “Where are you from?” with handwritten responses like Mexico, Oklahoma, Thailand, and Illinois. A dry erase marker is clipped to the sign, and a finger with blue nail polish points to an answer.

Sample Questions

Keep it simple with one or two word answers, yes/no columns, etc. We’re not looking for dissertations, just a quick little jot while they admire your decor en route to the next mixology class.

  • Where are you from?
  • Is this your first cruise?
  • Favorite Disney sidekick?
  • Parks vs Cruises?
  • Best Disney snack?
  • How many times have you ridden the [AquaDunk, AquaDuck, etc.]?
  • How many ice cream cones have you had so far?
  • What excursion are you trying?
  • Which Disney Princess would win in a dance contest?
  • Which character would you want on your trivia team?

If you’re looking to build your socials, ask for theirs! We connected with several other guests this way!
