After the drive-thru party, we had our family over for a small backyard party consisting of pizza, cupcakes and presents. Luckily our family is full of powwow goers, and we always have more than enough portable seating for any outdoor shindig.
Obviously we went with cupcakes to avoid the child spit all over the cake this year, but aside from one cake since, we’ve been cupcakes for all parties. They’re so much more convenient, no one has to cut the cake, and they tend to be a bit lower priced, as well.
After eats, Maui opened his gifts, and the kids ran around the backyard. Nothing elaborate, nothing huge, just a fun day with the family. While I love a birthday party, this was nice. I mean…aside from the pandemic surrounding it. But the day itself was just perfect!
I have had so much fun recently updating Stitchy’s previous birthday party posts. It’s been such a sweet trip down memory lane, as well as a bit of inspiration for the littles’ upcoming parties. We’ve even used the same venue a couple of times, too!
This post will be a little different, as it showcases Maui’s third birthday which took place right in the middle of the pandemic. We were socializing with our family group at this point but still wanted a way to celebrate with our friends.
Enter the drive-thru birthday party. Honestly, drive-by is probably more apt, but it seems violent. So, the drive-thru birthday!
It was an absolutely gorgeous day in May, and we spent the morning decorating the front porch with banners (our main banner was from Stitchy’s Wreck-it Ralph party!), balloons and signs celebrating the birthday boy. Our friends decorated their cars and brought by gifts, blasted music and even left their decorations to add to his stash.
