After a princess party, where do you go but unicorn?! All things rainbow, sparkle and magic were on deck for Mo’s 7th birthday party!
As you may have seen from previous birthday posts, we love Rotary Park and the rental house available at the park. The house includes the climate control, a small kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave, sink and counter space along with a few odds and ends in case you forget a serving spoon or tongs), two bathrooms and tables and chairs for a mere $40 an hour! Of course, there’s a playground within steps of the house and a basketball court next to it. Perfection for this crew of kids who love to run, play and hoop.
The building is essentially a blank slate for any type of decor you have. They ask that you don’t make holes in the walls (tacks, nails, etc.), but there are several places to hang decorations.
I was so excited to find AfroUnicorn decorations! We were able to grab a banner, table cloth and centerpieces, and they were so cute!
Frugal mom hack: If you have spring babies, grab candy and favors on clearance after Valentine’s Day and Easter!
The little displays in the center were made from clearanced dishes from Target. A little E600 (affiliate link) on the bottom of each piece, and we had adorable platters for candy, cookies and treats.
Mo had seen a tie-dye cake on TV, and she asked if we could make one for her birthday. Me being a baker at heart, I jumped at the chance! We had lots of fun and made a good mess creating her birthday cake, and it ended up just how she wanted.
Gifts were up next with her new Frozen bike from her great grandparents stealing the show! Of course, she adored all her gifts and immediately busted them out of the packaging when we got home. After presents, the kids ran around the playground, hopped in the moon bounce and even stopped for a picture with their kindergarten teacher who was in attendance.
My favorite part of the house is the front porch, as it provides a perfect spot for a group photo. Each party before the first guest bids adieu, we all gather on the porch to capture a moment.
