Oga’s Cantina

I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t really Star Wars. Everything I know about the franchise, I learned from Star Tours. Once the parks started embracing the Force, I’ve learned a little more, and I even caught a couple of the movies aboard the Disney Dream. But the amount of times I’ve been to Oga’s Cantina might tell you otherwise. 

You’ll find this infamous watering hole inside Galaxy’s Edge on both coasts (in Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park), and, yes, I’ve been to both multiple times. The atmosphere, even for a Star Wars novice, is so much fun! The cast members here really get into their roles, and as much as the surroundings build a story, it’s the people that bring it home. Plus…the drinks are really, really good.

Consumables

While the cantina does follow all the same guidelines of restaurants, it’s important to note that, really, you’re just drinking here. There are two pretty skimpy snack plates and cookies come with the milk, but that’s it. DO NOT come here expecting or requesting meals.

Atmosphere

There are two sides of the bar that are somewhat identical. Interestingly, we’ve always been seated on the same side and in roughly the same spot. A “live” DJ is spinning favorites, and you better be aware in case of power outages. 

It’s also important to note that there is limited seating. In all of our visits, we’ve never been seated, even with littles in tow (they have bar height high chairs, which I think is hilarious!). You can request to wait for seating, but they’re mostly for those who need the accommodation.

Verdict

Star Wars fan or not, give this bar a go! Reservations are much easier to snag these days (I see them often day of, even), and with the two drink limit, it’s not too much time out of your day.

So, what drink is first when you hit Oga’s? I recommend the Fuzzy Tauntaun, just don’t accidentally snort it. 😉
