Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera

As a travel agent specializing in Disney destinations (how’s that for an official – and only – Disney-approved title), I’m often lucky enough to participate in exciting events and experiences at Walt Disney World! One of my favorite opportunities was being one of the first guests to check in at Disney’s Riviera Resort on opening day, December 16, 2019 (ahem… three days before my birthday… ahem).
As part of that stay, we had the chance to enjoy breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace, the beautifully themed rooftop restaurant at the resort.
Fun fact: Topolino is the Italian name for Mickey Mouse!
From the delicious food to the artistic character costumes to the gorgeous Riviera atmosphere, this meal was everything I hoped it would be.
The Atmosphere
Featuring big, bright windows that fill the restaurant with natural light, Topolino’s Terrace feels airy, elegant and welcoming. The space has a relaxed Riviera-inspired feel that fits beautifully with Disney’s Riviera Resort, and there really isn’t a bad seat in the house.
The outdoor terrace adds another layer to the experience, offering beautiful views of the resort and surrounding area. Whether you’re enjoying your meal inside or stepping outside to take in the scenery, the setting is a big part of what makes Topolino’s Terrace such a fun place to dine.

The Food
Breakfast à la Art at Topolino’s Terrace is a little different from many Disney character meals. Instead of a buffet or family-style service, guests choose from a menu of individual entrees. The meal begins with shared pastries served with an artistic flair, and then you’ll choose from a small but delicious selection of breakfast favorites.
The menu may not be expansive, but everything we’ve tried has been thoughtfully done. The Wood-fired Butchers Steak is perfection, and the quality of the food is a big reason this breakfast stands out among Disney character dining experiences.
Dinner at Topolino’s Terrace is a very different experience from the character breakfast, leaning into its signature dining roots with French and Italian-inspired flavors. The menu features fresh seafood, meat dishes, handmade pasta and decadent desserts, all served in a beautiful rooftop setting.

Characters
Breakfast brings a whole new group of art students to the Riviera! Topolino paints masterpieces, Minnie pens poetry, Daisy twirls as a prima ballerina and Donald sculpts his way through breakfast. And they’re every bit as adorable as that sounds.
Much like Garden Grill, the smaller size of the restaurant allows the characters to spend a little more time with guests. We’ve had characters stop by more than once during a meal, which gives you the chance to enjoy more than just the quick autograph-photo-smile routine.

Our Take
Topolino’s Terrace is pretty close to a home run for us. Great food, a beautiful atmosphere and some of the most adorable character costumes on property come together to make this a really special dining experience.
The Riviera setting does require a little extra effort if you aren’t already staying there or spending time in the area, but we think it’s worth the trek. The resort itself is gorgeous, the restaurant feels elevated without being stuffy and the whole experience feels thoughtfully put together from start to finish.
Reservations can be a challenge, especially for breakfast, but this is one where I’d encourage you to keep trying if it’s high on your Disney dining wish list. Between the food, the characters and the beautiful setting, Topolino’s Terrace earns its reputation as one of Walt Disney World’s standout character meals.
We’ve been lucky enough to enjoy this one with multiple generations of our family, and seeing everyone enjoy the experience together is exactly why we keep coming back. ✨
