Tusker House

ENJOY A VIBRANT CHARACTER MEAL WITH SAFARI-READY FRIENDS, AFRICAN-INSPIRED FLAVORS AND A BUSTLING MARKETPLACE ATMOSPHERE AT DISNEY’S ANIMAL KINGDOM.

Our quest to enjoy a pre-park opening breakfast in every Disney park brought us to Tusker House in the heart of Harambe. Located in the bustling marketplace, this character meal serves up a buffet with plenty of familiar breakfast favorites alongside a few African-inspired dishes for guests looking to try something a little different.

Draped in colorful fabrics and filled with thoughtful details, Tusker House really does feel like a small African village. While some guests still think of Animal Kingdom as a half-day park, it’s one of my absolute favorite places to slow down and soak in the incredible storytelling and immersive atmosphere. Tusker House fits right in, making it feel like an extension of the land rather than just another restaurant.

The Food

Much like Boma, Tusker House offers a wide variety of flavors and dishes. Breakfast includes classic morning favorites alongside African-inspired touches, while lunch and dinner lean more heavily into the flavors and spices of the region. If your family loves trying new foods, there are plenty of fun options to explore. If you have younger diners who prefer simpler flavors, there are still plenty of kid-pleasing choices available, too. And whatever you do, don’t forget the Jungle Juice!

Tusker House features your favorite Disney safari pals! Mickey, Goofy, Donald and Daisy make their way around the restaurant in adorable safari outfits, so keep those cameras and autograph books ready.

Our Take

We really enjoy Tusker House, especially because it checks a lot of boxes for our family. The food is good, the atmosphere is fun and we’ll almost always choose a character meal over standing in a line for a quick photo op if we have the chance.

That said, there’s another reason this meal is always welcome on an Animal Kingdom day: the break. Animal Kingdom can get hot, and knowing we have a little over an hour of air conditioning, a full meal and plenty of drinks coming is honestly a pretty great motivator. Sometimes the best Disney strategy is knowing when to slow down, recharge and let someone else bring the magic to your table.

Tusker House fits perfectly into an Animal Kingdom day for us. It gives us a chance to enjoy great Disney details, spend time with characters and take a much-needed pause before heading back out into the park. It’s a meal we’re always happy to have on the schedule.
