French Quarter offers two relaxed spots to grab a drink, snack or a little extra Disney magic. Mardi Grogs, located near Doubloon Lagoon pool, is a convenient stop for poolside refreshments, while Scat Cat’s Club near the lobby is the place to go for live entertainment, specialty drinks and those famous Mickey-shaped beignets.

Whether you’re winding down after a park day or making a dedicated beignet stop (we fully support this plan), these lounges add to the laid-back New Orleans atmosphere that makes French Quarter so charming.

A few tips go a long way toward making your stay at French Quarter even more magical!

• Don’t request a preferred room unless you really need one.
  French Quarter is the smallest moderate resort at Walt Disney World, so even “standard” rooms are just a short walk from dining, transportation and the lobby. Save the extra money unless there’s a specific location that’s important to your family.
• Get your beignets early or late.
  Scat Cat’s Club Café draws a crowd, especially in the mornings and after dinner. If you’re flexible, visit during off-peak hours for a much shorter wait and a more relaxed experience.
• Explore both Port Orleans resorts.
  One of the best perks of staying at French Quarter is how easy it is to walk or boat over to Riverside. Enjoy the beautiful riverfront paths, extra dining and recreation, then head back to your quieter home base.

Our Take on Port Orleans French Quarter

We’re big fans of Disney’s take on the Big Easy. The smaller size, charming New Orleans-inspired details and relaxed atmosphere make it one of our favorite moderate resorts. There’s something special about wandering the beautiful pathways, grabbing a refill from the freestyle machines and, of course, making a stop for those famous Mickey-shaped beignets.

The biggest thing to know about French Quarter is that its cozy size comes with cozy rooms. Larger families or groups who want to stay together may find the standard room layout limiting, so this resort is often a better fit for smaller families or groups who are comfortable booking multiple rooms.

For us, the charm is exactly what makes French Quarter special. It’s not the biggest resort, and that’s part of the magic.
