Sometimes you just can’t decide what kind of party you want, so you combine.
Welcome to Maui’s Basketball Black Panther Birthday Party!
If you haven’t poked around our other party posts, you may not know that we love the Rotary House at a local park near us. For the small investment of $40 an hour, the rental includes the climate controlled building, a small kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave, sink and counter space along with a few odds and ends in case you forget a serving spoon or tongs), two bathrooms and tables and chairs.
On top of that, there’s a playground behind the house and a basketball court next to it, which was absolutely perfect for a basketball party. There are also charcoal grills, which we’ve used to grill for parties, as well.
Additionally, the building is a blank slate for any type of decor you have. They ask that you don’t make holes in the walls (tacks, nails, etc.), but there are several places to hang decorations.
The first hour of the party was pretty free flowing with guests arriving, kids playing and a come and go buffet with fruit, veggies, pizza and punch. Thanks to another mama for the playground pics, as I’m always in the house manning the food and chatting with the parents. Once everyone had arrived and had time to eat, we called the kids back for cake and gifts. The littles also used this time to pose at our photo corner.
My favorite part of all the parties is our big group picture! Before the first guest says goodbye, we gather everyone and snap a pic. This is another reason we love the Rotary House. The front porch lends itself perfectly to this tradition.
