I will fully admit something: I am usually the mama who loves planning every. little. detail. of a celebration.
The theme? I’m all in down to the outfit I’m personally wearing to the party.
The decorations? Already making a color-coded list.
The little touches that make a kid feel extra special? Absolutely my favorite part.
Last year, when we were living out of state with our sweet baby girl inpatient, the middles were so understanding. We opted for a quick trampoline park party for both of them combined so they could have some time with their friends and family back home. Was it the best shindig I’ve ever thrown? No, but they had fun, and it was what we could do at the time.
In this season of grief, after losing our precious baby Jewels to CHD, I knew I wanted Mo’ to have a birthday she loved, but I also knew I still didn’t have the same energy to pull together every single piece from start to finish.
And you know what? It was okay to hand over the reins.
Actually, it was more than ok. It was wicked!
For Mo’s 9th birthday, she wanted a Wicked theme, and since we had a thrown together party, she was gracious and happy with pink and green cupcakes and a little sparkle on the table.
But this year, she got her dream thanks to MD Mobile Events!
And, y’all, I may have discovered something dangerous.
Sometimes the magic is letting someone else make the magic happen.
A Movie Theater in Our Front Yard
The entire planning process was almost ridiculously simple. We had three jobs: pick a movie, pick Mo’s favorite songs and pay for it.
That’s it.
Now, for someone who usually loves taking a celebration from a blank page to a fully themed experience, it felt a little strange not to have a giant list of things to coordinate. But right now, it was exactly what I needed.
The amazing thing was that handing over the details didn’t mean the details disappeared. Once MD Mobile Events knew Mo’ wanted a Wicked party, they took that theme and ran with it.
They created an entire experience around her favorite movie, complete with party favors, decorations and activities that made the whole evening feel intentional and personalized. Each attendee received their own witch hat and crown, there were adorable photo booth props and even a Barbie box transformed into a Wicked-inspired photo opportunity.
They brought the theme into the activities too, with Wicked temporary tattoos, themed glow sticks and the cutest pink sparkly “champagne” toast for the kids.
Those are the little touches I normally love creating myself, and seeing them handled so beautifully was honestly such a gift.
The MD Mobile Events party bus rolled up to our house, their team checked in with me and then they got to work. The next time we stepped outside, we had a full movie theater in our front yard.
Not just a projector and a bowl of popcorn situation (although, let’s be honest, that still would be fun). This was a full movie experience. There was a red carpet entrance, unlimited popcorn, soda and movie candy, lounge seating and blankets, a huge outdoor screen that rolled down from the side of the bus and all the little touches that made Mo’ feel like the guest of honor.
The Mom Behind the Party Gets to Enjoy It Too
As someone who usually wants to plan every detail, it was surprisingly wonderful to step back and simply enjoy my daughter’s birthday.
I wasn’t checking timelines, making sure the next activity was ready or running around trying to keep everything moving behind the scenes. I got to sit with my family, watch Mo’ laugh with her friends and actually be present.
Me being me, I did set up a little spread for the grown-ups in the kitchen, but all said and done, I got to spend most of the evening relaxing on our front porch and singing along.
Before anyone wonders, because transparency matters to me: this was not a sponsored party and it was not donated. I paid for Mo’s birthday celebration myself, just like any other family booking a birthday experience.
And I can absolutely say it was worth every penny.
When you compare the cost of birthday party venues, activities, food and all the little extras that add up quickly, the MD Mobile Events experience was incredibly comparable to other birthday options in our area.
The difference?
They brought the party to us.
There was no loading up a car full of supplies, hauling decorations to a venue or spending the entire celebration worrying about what needed to happen next. They created a fun, memorable experience right in our own driveway.
The Best Kind of Party Cleanup
And this might be my favorite part.
When the last song was sung, the last piece of candy was enjoyed and everyone said their goodbyes, the MD Mobile Events team packed everything away and drove off.
The next morning, it was like nothing had ever happened. Not a kernel of popcorn, not a rogue mini soda can, not a sprinkling of glitter graced our front yard.
That alone deserves some applause. 😂

There’s another reason I’m excited to share MD Mobile Events with you.
Our relationship with MD Mobile Events actually started before Mo’s birthday party. We first met them because they generously donated to Sparkle Strong Foundation’s Holidays with Heart fundraiser last year.
If you’ve followed along with our story for a while, you may know that Sparkle Strong Foundation was born during one of the most challenging seasons of our family’s life. We spent months in the pediatric cardiac ICU with our precious Jewelsy as she and we fought for her life. We created Sparkle Strong at her bedside to support families who are spending time in the CICU and remind them they are not walking that road alone. She was there at the start, and we now continue the work in her memory.
What began as a way to turn our own struggles into something that could help other families has grown into a mission centered around comfort, connection and support when families need it most.
That is why businesses like MD Mobile Events mean so much to us. They chose to support a mission that is incredibly personal to our family before we ever had the chance to experience what they do. And then, when Mo’s birthday came around, we got to see their creativity and generosity from a completely different perspective.
But here’s the thing — I wouldn’t recommend MD Mobile Events simply because they supported Sparkle Strong. I recommend them because we experienced it. Mo’ loved it. I loved it. And I would absolutely do it again.
In fact, my nephew is having his birthday party with MD Mobile Events next week, so apparently we’re officially an MD Mobile birthday family now.
And honestly?
I’m not mad about it. 💚
