Welcome back to another Disney Tip Tuesday, our (sometimes) weekly bite-sized blog post offering up a fun tip for visiting your favorite Disney destinations. This week, we’re telling you how to maximize snack credits at Walt Disney World.

If you’re using the Disney Dining Plan, and your vacation falls during one of Epcot’s festivals, don’t waste your snack credits on $5 candy bars or another bottle of water. Epcot’s festival marketplaces are serving up way more exciting options.

Most of the food offerings at the festival kiosks scattered throughout the park are eligible for snack credits on the dining plan. Not only are they usually more interesting (and tastier!) than your typical snack options, they can also be a much better value for your snack credit.

Tips for Using Your Snack Credits at the Festivals

  • Look for the dining plan symbol. Festival marketplace menus identify which items qualify as snacks, so check before ordering.
  • Compare the value. If you have a choice between using a credit on a small packaged snack or a festival dish, the festival offering will often give you more food for the same credit.
  • Save your credits for the festival. If you know you’ll be visiting EPCOT during a festival, resist the urge to burn through your snack credits at other parks.
  • Bonus Tip: No Dining Plan? Use a Gift Card! Pick up a Disney Gift Card. Epcot typically has one on a wrist band for purchase at the festivals. It makes checkout quick and easy, but my favorite part is that it gives you a built-in spending limit. Load the amount you want to spend, use it throughout the festival and when that gift card is empty…that’s your sign to rein it in.

Whether you’re using snack credits or setting your own festival food budget, a little strategy goes a long way. So, save those credits for the good stuff, or give yourself a gift card limit and enjoy the festival without accidentally eating your way through your vacation budget. Trying everything is fun, realizing you spent $87 on snacks before lunch? That’s a little less magical. 😂
