Welcome back to another Disney Tip Tuesday, our (kinda) weekly bite-sized blog post offering up a fun tip for visiting your favorite Disney destinations. This week we take a look at the luggage transfer option for those of you looking at a split stay between Disney owned and operated resorts.

The MMM crew is one resort away from staying at all Walt Disney World owned and operated resorts, and a big part of that is taking advantage of split stays. Our average stay is eight days. With some of the resorts not being our personal taste, it’s been great to stay a night or two and get a feel for the hotel for the benefit of our guests, then we’ll move to one of our favorites for the remainder of the trip. While moving resorts can be a hassle, Disney does have helpful options in place.

Guests moving from one Disney owned and operated resort to another can take advantage of luggage transfer. Luggage services will take your bags and the first resort then transport it to your second resort at no charge (aside from a customary but optional tip for your bellhop).

Tips for Luggage Transfer

  • Transfers can take up to five hours, so pack anything you may need immediately in a bag you’ll keep. Think meds, sunglasses, swimsuit, etc.
  • You can take your bags to luggage services or have them picked up from your hotel room.
  • Customary tip is $1-2 per bag.
  • Luggage does not have to be suitcases. You can transfer shopping bags, boxes, etc.
  • Each bag will have a barcode, but make sure you have items tagged with your contact information. as well.

Would you ever try a split stay? If so, which resorts would you choose?
