Welcome back to another Disney Tip Tuesday, our (sometimes) weekly bite-sized blog post offering up a fun tip for visiting your favorite Disney destinations. This week we take a look at mini golf at Walt Disney World. Did you even know there was mini golf at Walt Disney World?
Mini golf at Disney is one of those things that sounds very Disney magical in the planning stage, especially since it comes as a free perk with your Disney vacation package. Then you remember you’re standing in Florida heat trying to convince a 7-year-old that finishing the last three holes is a character-building experience. 😂 It can be a fun little break from the parks, but it’s best approached as a low-key activity, not a must-do attraction.
Miniature golf is included as a free perk with qualifying Walt Disney World vacation packages, with four vouchers included per package for an 18-hole round. You can choose between Disney’s Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf near Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf near Blizzard Beach. Each location offers two different courses with their own Disney flair.
We opted for Fantasia and arrived in the early afternoon sans reservation. The Gardens, the feature course with all the fun, was about a two-hour wait, while the Fairways was about 30 minutes. Guess which we chose. 😉
Honestly, I’m not too bummed we chose the shorter wait (which did turn out to be less than stated), as the kids lasted about 15 minutes before they were bored. To be fair, the group is front of us was awfully slow, and the Fairways is pretty lackluster, especially compared to the Gardens.
Mini Tips for Mini Golf
- Reservations are helpful, but not required. You can make reservations for Disney mini golf, but walk-ups are still accepted. If you’re visiting during a busy time, booking ahead can save you from a long wait.
- Bring snacks. There are snacks for purchase, but they are very limited. If you have littles in tow or need to keep your sugar up, pack a few faves in your tote.
- Drive or ride share is your best bet. There is no direct Disney transportation to the courses. Winter Summerland would require a transfer to get to Blizzard Beach, while Fantasia would require a walk from one of the nearby Epcot area resorts.
Mini golf may not be a Disney must-do, but it’s a cute add-on when you’re looking for something slower paced, especially when it’s a freebie. Keep expectations realistic, grab your clubs and enjoy a little extra Disney fun without the park-day hustle.
