Dormer Rooms

The charming dormer rooms offer a unique twist on the standard guest room layout. While they feature a slightly smaller floor plan, the higher vaulted ceilings, cozy design and solid balconies give these rooms a special character that many guests love. Dormer rooms are not available to book as a separate category, but they can be requested as a room preference.

We have not yet experienced the reimagined Royal Palm Club at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, but we wanted to include photos for reference. These images are from the former Sugar Loaf Club, which is no longer offered, and are meant to give a glimpse into the Club Level experience.

Citrico’s

If you’re in the mood to slow down and enjoy a nicer dinner, Cítricos is a great pick. The Mary Poppins Returns inspiration is sweet, the atmosphere is relaxed and the food is a nice change from the parks.

1900 Park Fare

1900 Park Fare features a new character lineup and updated dining experience while keeping one very important favorite: the famous strawberry soup. It’s a fun option for families looking for a character meal with a little Grand Floridian flair.

Grand Floridian Cafe

This hidden gem is a solid choice for Grand guests. The Grand Floridian Cafe is a comfortable option for breakfast, lunch or dinner when you want a good meal without the extra fanfare of some of Disney’s bigger dining experiences.

Gasparilla Island Grill

This is the spot for those “we need food now” moments. Coffee, breakfast, sandwiches, snacks and desserts make it an easy choice whether you’re headed to the parks or back to the room. Mobile ordering makes this even more convenient!

Enchanted Rose Lounge

Even if you’re not staying at the Grand Floridian, Enchanted Rose is worth wandering into. The lounge is beautiful, the drinks are creative and it’s a great place to relax for a bit.

Around the Resort

Take a stroll around the lush landscaping, admire the Victorian-inspired details and enjoy beautiful views of Seven Seas Lagoon and Cinderella Castle in the distance. Whether you’re exploring the pathways, relaxing by the water or simply soaking in the atmosphere, the resort offers plenty of little moments that make it worth wandering beyond your room.

More Magic Tips

A few tips go a long way toward making your Walt Disney World vacation truly grand!

• Say cheese! Disney PhotoPass photographers occasionally wander the Grand Floridian grounds, but if you’re looking for a more reliable spot, check the second floor of the main building near the famous sparkling glass slipper. It’s one of those little Grand Floridian details that makes for a fun photo stop.

• Create your own fireworks magic. Fireworks cruises are available to book from the resort, but one of our favorite budget-friendly tips is to hop on a boat to Magic Kingdom and enjoy the ride back during fireworks time. There’s something extra magical about watching the sky light up over the castle from the water. One time, we even floated right alongside the Electrical Water Pageant!

• Choose your building wisely. The main building may be where Uncle Jesse piano dreams come true (I wish!), but don’t overlook the outer buildings. They offer a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere while still keeping you close to all the Grand Floridian magic.

• Let someone else handle the details. A Disney vacation has a lot of moving pieces, and the right planning can make all the difference. Use a travel agent (hi, that’s us!)! Our complimentary planning services help you choose the right resort, room category and experiences for your crew.

Our Take on the Grand Floridian

There’s no denying it: the Grand Floridian is beautiful, grand and undeniably aspirational. It has that “we made it” Disney feeling the moment you walk through the doors, and for many families, that dream-resort experience is exactly what they’re looking for.

For us, though, it isn’t usually our first choice for a home base. We love the offerings (especially that strawberry soup!), the atmosphere and the little touches that make this resort special, but the higher price point and consistently busy feel mean we often find ourselves choosing other resorts instead.

That said, there’s something to be said for the magic of arriving at the Grand Floridian and immediately feeling like you’re living the Disney vacation you imagined. Sometimes the feeling of a resort is just as important as the practical details, and the Grand delivers that in a way few others can.
