Disney Dining Plans
You’ve locked in your resort, picked the perfect park tickets, and made those can’t-miss dining reservations. Now the big question—how are you paying for all that magically calorie-free 😉 Disney deliciousness?
Enter the Disney Dining Plan. It’s an optional add-on for Walt Disney World vacation packages that lets you prepay for meals and snacks, giving your trip that all-inclusive feel. No reaching for your wallet every time a Mickey Bar (or even grown up bar) calls your name—just tap and eat.
A few things to consider:
Dining plans aren’t always a money-saver. As vacation package prices rise, the savings potential drops. The key to making it worth it? Use every single credit. Unused credits = lost value. Pro tip: If you’ve got extras on your departure day, hit the gift shop and trade them for snack credits you can take on the plane. Not the most glamorous use, but hey—better than leaving money on the table.
Still, there are definite perks. If you love the all-inclusive vibe, it’s a win. It’s also great for budgeting—you’ll know your food is covered before the pixie dust hits and you suddenly “need” four meals a day with dessert at each. (We’ve all been there. No judgment.)
Disney currently offers two types of dining plans, but the Disney Dining Plan is by far the most popular. It offers flexibility, solid value, and just enough structure to keep everyone full and happy. Check out the breakdowns below and see which plan fits your travel style best.

Dining plans are based on the number of nights in your stay—not the number of days. So if you’re staying 8 days and 7 nights, you’ll get 7 sets of dining credits.
This doesn’t apply to your resort refillable mug—you’ll get one per person, and trust me, that’s plenty. Your cabinet at home probably already looks like a Disney mug retirement village. Or maybe that’s just mine.
Your credits are stored on your MagicBand (or card, if you skipped the band) and can be used any time during your trip—they’re not locked to specific days. You’ll get a receipt showing your remaining credits after each use, or you can check them in the My Disney Experience app or at your resort’s front desk.
Oh, and a quick note: kids under 3 don’t need a dining plan. They can share from your plate or have their meals paid for out of pocket if needed. Just another reason toddlers are the true MVPs of Disney budgeting.
What are Table-Service, Quick-Service and Snack Credits?
Great question! We’ve been throwing around the word “credits,” so let’s break down what that actually means.
Table Service Credits are used at full-service restaurants, buffets and family-style meals—what we lovingly call a “sit-down,” even though we do sit other places, I promise. Basically, if there’s a server taking your order and refilling your drink, it’s table-service.
Quick Service Credits are for fast food, Disney-style. You order at the counter, pick up your food, find a seat and dig in. Think food courts, walk-up windows and pool bars. Easy, fast, and often delicious.

Snack Credits can be used at carts, gift shops and quick-service spots for smaller items—popcorn, pretzels, ice cream, bottled drinks, cupcakes the size of your head… you get it. Just look for the little purple snack symbol and you’re good to go.
Pro tip: Some snacks are BIG enough to split, especially at Epcot festivals—stretch those credits like a true Disney planner.
